Book of Daniel

I had recently visited a website which was out of the ordinary. I am asking you all to review what this site has to say about Daniel 9:25-27. Let me know of your opinions on this matter. I will copy and paste an excerpt from this site.

MYTH #3: THE 7-YEAR PEACE TREATY

ANTICHRIST WILL NOT SIGN A PEACE TREATY WITH ANYBODY, MUCH LESS FOR 7 YEARS, SINCE HE’LL ONLY APPEAR ON EARTH FOR THE LAST 3-1/2 YEARS OF THE TRIBULATION.

THIS "TREATY" IS PURE RELIGIOUS FABRICATION RESULTING FROM ERRONEOUS EXEGESIS OF DANIEL 9:26 WHICH READS "HE SHALL CONFIRM THE COVENANT WITH MANY FOR ONE WEEK" (WHICH, IN PROPHETIC LINGO, REFERS NOT TO A LITERAL WEEK (7 DAYS), BUT A "WEEK OF YEARS", (OR 7 YEARS).

ONE HAS TO TOTALLY TAKE THIS VERSE OUT OF CONTEXT, TWIST IT, ADD A NUMBER OF THINGS IT DOESN’T SAY, PLUS A GOOD DOSE OF RELIGIOUS SPECULATION, TO COME UP WITH THE LUDICROUS "7-YEAR PEACE TREATY".

THE "HE" MENTIONED HERE ISN’T THE ANTICHRIST, BUT THE MESSIAH, JESUS CHRIST. JESUS IS THE SUBJECT AND FOCUS OF THIS PROPHECY. THE ANTICHRIST IS NOT EVEN MENTIONED IN THIS VERSE.

"THE COVENANT" REFERS TO THE ETERNAL COVENANT GOD MADE WITH ABRAHAM AND HIS SEED. THIS CHAPTER BEGINS WITH A REFERENCE TO THAT COVENANT [SEE 9:24]. THE EXACT SAME WORD IN HEBREW BERYITH IS USED IN BOTH VERSES [4 AND 26]. IN VERSE 4 DANIEL IS NOT TALKING ABOUT A "7-YEAR PEACE TREATY", BUT ABOUT THE [ABRAHAMIC] COVENANT.

THE WORD "PEACE" IS NOWHERE FOUND IN THIS VERSE.

THE WORD "TREATY" IS NOT FOUND EITHER.

NOWHERE DOES IT STATE THAT THE COVENANT IS MADE, THEN BROKEN. THE WORD "BREAK" IS NOT EVEN FOUND IN THIS VERSE.

IT DOESN’T REFER TO A FUTURE COVENANT, BUT TO THE ALREADY EXISTING COVENANT BETWEEN GOD AND ABRAHAM’S SEED.

MESSIAH DOESN’T MAKE THIS COVENANT. HE CONFIRMS THE ALREADY EXISTING ONE. HE RATIFIES IT. HOW? BY DYING ON MOUNT MORIAH WHERE ABRAHAM WAS GOING TO SACRIFICE ISAAC 2,000 YEARS EARLIER.

ABRAHAM PROPHESIED THAT GOD WOULD PROVIDE HIMSELF A LAMB FOR THE SACRIFICE AND EVEN CALLED THE PLACE YAHWE JIREH [GOD WILL PROVIDE]. JESUS WAS THE LAMB GOD PROVIDED, TO CONFIRM HIS COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM AND HIS SEED, JUST LIKE ABRAHAM PREDICTED, AND WASH AWAY THEIR SINS [GENESIS 22:8-14].

SINCE MESSIAH IS ABRAHAM’S SEED, ONLY THE MESSIAH IS QUALIFIED TO CONFIRM SUCH COVENANT [GALATIANS 3:16].

PAUL REFERS TO THIS IN GALATIANS 3:15-17:

“THOUGH IT BE BUT A MAN’S COVENANT, YET IF IT BE CONFIRMED, NO MAN DISANNULLS IT, OR ADDS THERETO.

NOW TO ABRAHAM AND HIS SEED WERE THE PROMISES MADE. HE DOESN’T SAY TO “SEEDS”, AS MANY; BUT AS ONE, AND TO YOUR SEED, WHICH IS CHRIST.

AND THIS I SAY, THAT THE COVENANT,THAT WAS CONFIRMED BEFORE GOD IN CHRIST, THE LAW, WHICH WAS 430 YEARS AFTER, CANNOT DISANNUL, THAT IT SHOULD MAKE THE PROMISE OF NO EFFECT”.

PAUL TELLS US UNEQUIVOCALLY WHO “CONFIRMS” “THE COVENANT”. IT’S JESUS CHRIST WHO CONFIRMED IT, NOT THE ANTICHRIST!

JESUS ALREADY CONFIRMED IT, WHEN HE DIED AT CALVARY. SO, THIS ISN’T SOME “FUTURE PEACE TREATY” THAT ANTICHRIST WILL SIGN. THERE’S NOTHING THERE THAT SAYS THAT!

THE ANTICHRIST NEVER WAS, NOR WILL BE, ABRAHAM’S SEED. THEREFORE, THERE’S NO WAY HE CAN CONFIRM THE [ABRAHAMIC]COVENANT.

IT’S THE MESSIAH WHO CAUSED THE [ANIMAL] SACRIFICE AND OBLATION [GRAIN OFFERING] TO CEASE. GOD NO LONGER ACCEPTS SUCH SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS, SINCE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR SIN, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE MESSIAH, ALREADY OFFERED HIMSELF AS THE FINAL, ETERNAL, ALL-SUFFICIENT SACRIFICE TO CONFIRM THE ETERNAL COVENANT GOD MADE WITH ABRAHAM.

IT’S ONLY THE MESSIAH’S PRECIOUS BLOOD THAT FOREVER WASHES AWAY OUR SINS. PRAISE HIS NAME!

THEREFORE, DON’T LOOK FOR A 7-YEAR PEACE TREATY BECAUSE THERE WON’T BE ONE.'

Do you all think that this is true?

I did not read the whole thing, I did not have to. In the first place, when did God come down just to speak to him to tell him that it would be different than the BIBLE says?!? I never trust them...

I will follow the link and go over. I am one that has seen man dabble and change the very meaning of God and His word, so I will study this.

there are so many different ways of interpreting prophecies that the best way is to just forget about them! when they happen we will know what they meant.one thing we know: He predicted disaster would come and this is what will come.

It is very obvious from Daniel 9:26that the people of "the prince" to come is not referring to Jesus, but to another prince. In Daniel 9:26, the people of the prince to come destroy the city and the sanctuary. This happened in 70 A.D. when the Romans obliterated the Jewish sanctuary and literally left not one stone on top of another, just as Jesus predicted in the Gospels. The context of one week- referring to 7 years- can be interpreted as 7 years, based on the context of the number of "weeks" God gave to Daniel concerning Israel. The total number of weeks issued for God's dealings with Israel until the complete fulfillment of Dan 9:24, is 70 weeks. We determine that one weeks is equal to seven years, thus 490 years (70 weeks X 7 days per week = 490 days) God was very specific about when the "time clock" would start (Dan 9:25). Based on the historical fulfillment of some of the prophecies in this passage, we know that the the text is speaking of years. Now realize, once Messiah was cut off, the clock was stopped! This will take much study on your part! When the Jews cut off their Messiah, God explains that a partial harderning has occured in Israel. He allowed this to happen to reveal the mystery of the Church, allowing Gentiles to take part in the promise of Christ! Read Rom. 9-11 for your own study. The point is this- the 490 years has not been completed. There remains yet one more week to be fulfilled. We know that it has not happened yet, otherwise Christ would be reigning on His throne in Jerusalem. So, when will God restart the timer? Study the rest of the text and pay close attention to detail. There remains seven more years in the 490 year prophecy. The prince to come will confirm a covenant with many (Israel included) for one seven, or 7 years. Revelation clearly states that in the middle of the seven, the prince will turn against the holy people and the holy city, Jerusalem. Yet, Christ will destroy this prince with the brightness of His coming (Rev 19; 2 Thessalonians 2:8) Please understand, if none of this makes since to you, there's plenty of good material available. I recommend Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins as good resources. They have a very consistent Biblical hermeneutic (interpretation skills). If you do understand, keep studying, don't ever stop looking into God's word. And don't let people's speculations turn you away from your Hope, the return of Christ, which draws nearer day after day!

I want to comment on foregiveness.

(le-havdil) How to live in order to enable the Creator in His loving kindness to provide His forgiveness is outlined in the Bible ; and was also taught by the first century Ribi Yehoshua from Nazareth (the Messiah).

Read it here: http://www.netzarim.co.il
Have a nice day!

You're asking the wrong people. Their OPINIONS are irrelevant.

There's ONLY ONE OPINION THAT MATTERS, and it's God's.

It's HIS opinion you should be asking and seeking.

It appears that God already rendered His Opinion in Galatians 3:16,17.

Thank you.

I think that the 6 events listed in Daniel 9:24 are associated with the 7 yrs. of tribulation. The 1st
3 events taking place in the 1st 3 1/2 yrs. of tribulation. If that be the case the Antichrist dominion will end after the 1st 3 1/2 yrs. of Tribulation. (Daniel 7:26) (Ecclesiastes 3:15)

your so wrong its not even funny.Every text about the end says there will be a false peace. This one says, the prince of the people who will come will destroy the city and sanctuary and set up the abomination. In all other verses which mention the abomination, its the antichrist, so its you who is taking things out of context.
